RAID 0: Data is distributed across the drives. This is the best-performing configuration with maximum data capacity. A single drive failure causes loss of all the data.

RAID 1: Two shared disks are mirrored. This configuration provides great speed but only half of the potential storage capacity. This configuration is rarely used on Intel Raid devices but we still see some Intel Raid 1 systems with this configuration.

JBOD: Data on the Intel Raid System is spanned along all disks. This ensures full storage capacity and good performance. Single drive failure may cause all data loss. We don't see this often in Intel systems unless it has been setup by an network engineer for a purpose.

RAID 5: This is now the most popular and the default for most of Intel's Raid servers. Data is distributed across the drives using backward parity rotation. This configuration is fast but space equal to one disk's capacity is lost. The Intel Raid 5 system will continue to operate normally even after single drive failure. We normally receive a lot of Intel Raid 5 systems due to a one or two disks failing in the raid array or a rebuild that has not completed correctly. Intel RAID servers can have a wide variety of RAID configurations.

We also request that the numbering of the hard disk stays intact to speed up the recovery process. Please send Hard Drive's to our postal address or phone us on 0207 112 1770 to arrange to drop of the disks to us. All Intel raid data recovery jobs need to be priced before they are sent into us. If you are posting in disks to us please send the Hard Drives via a suitable postage service along with your Contact Details (Full Name, Full Postal Address, Phone Number & Email Address).
